FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I get my tickets/car pass?
A: Since there is no admission fee, there are no tickets. A parking fee of $5 per person will be collected at the gate. Car passes are not available in advance.
Q: Should I bring a lawn chair/blanket?
A: While we'll have some chairs and tables set up, we are expecting a large crowd, so it will be a good idea to bring your own. You can follow the signs about where to place chairs or not, or ask a volunteer.
Q: Will the event be held if it rains?
A: It will be held in a light drizzle, but not in a downpour. Check this website or our toll free number (866-936-9956) on the morning of the event. Our rain date is the next day, Sunday, September 14th at the same time.
Q: What kind of weather is typical for mid September?
A: It is typically up to about 74 degrees during the day and down to low of 55 degrees at night with no significant wind. There's about a 75% chance of a dry day.
Q: Can I bring my dog?
A: Sorry, but while we love our furry friends, unless they are certified assistance service animals, we cannot allow pets at the event.
Q: Can I bring my camera/video camera?
A: Yes, please do! In fact, it is highly encouraged! Share your videos and photos on our Facebook page. Lots of photos were uploaded last year by many very generous people.
Q: Can I bring my cooler of snacks & beverages?
A: Unfortunately no "carry ins" are allowed, but our vendors will be selling a vast array of fare from snacks to full meals. You can buy both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages on-site plus water.
Q: Do you offer wheelchair access?
A: We will have a handicapped outdoor toilet. While there are no facilities constructed specifically for handicap access, the outdoor venue makes wheelchair access possible. Please keep in mind this is a working farm and the event will take place in a natural setting that includes hills, meadows, and uneven ground.
Q: Where should we park?
A: There is ample parking inside the GermanFest grounds. For handicapped parking, please display your DMV handicap card and follow the directions of our traffic control people.
Q: What is the actual address where GermanFest will take place?
A: 11523 Back Road, Toms Brook, VA 22660-2401
Q: Where do the profits go?
A: They will go to the Shenandoah Germanic Heritage Museum, owned by non-profit Hottel Keller Memorial Inc, and will go towards making GermanFest even better next year!
Q. I have a question not listed here. Who can I ask?
A. Please email [email protected] or call us toll-free at 866-936-9956. We've tried to anticipate your questions, but there could certainly be some we've overlooked.
Thank you!
