Plan Your Trip
GermanFest is nestled in the great Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, host to thousands of visitors every year. You'll find many things to do no matter what your taste.
There are a number of amazing B&Bs along with familiar and unique hotels. Maybe you'd prefer camping in the George Washington National Forest or in one of our parks. Or hiking the North or Massanutten Mountains. Canoers will find their home in the Shenandoah River, along with fisherman (fly-fishing too) or naturalists.
Be retro! Go enjoy a double-feature at one of the few drive-in movie theaters left in the country! Or maybe you'd like to enjoy the mountain views while sipping wine on the patio. Or enjoy a play or classical music concert.
You'll also find a great deal of history at our numerous battlefields and other Civil War sites. Our Shenandoah County courthouse, designed by Thomas Jefferson, is the oldest continuously in-use courthouse west of the Blue Ridge. (Genealogists should plan extra time!)
In nearby Winchester you'll find the offices of George Washington and Stonewall Jackson and many other places of interest. During the Civil War, Winchester changed hands between North and South 77 times!
